25th August 2011 Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: s Wind Stength: 0/15 Surf / Sea State: chop Air Temperature: 18 Sea Temperature: 16 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 17.53 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 10.26 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) With 17/20 mph forecast and rain by dinner time and with only three kids to look after I was at The Dip by 9:30 and there looked enough for the big freeride kit - the 133 lt. Zantos and my Ezzy 7.5. Sadly I was wrong :( as the wind was with the tide and after one run out,I wobbled back only losing two groynes !!! I sat about an hour waiting for it to improve - iT didn't so rigged 8.5 (I would have rigged 9.4 but my 250 boom is nearly broken so looking for a replacement - anyone can help ???? ) I set off toward the Deben rivermouth but way underpowered, then into the river where 5 kiters were out and then beat out to sea, at this point I was debating sailing to Rough Towers but luckily decided against it - not windy enough :( I then beat up towards the pier but it was slow going, at The Spa I saw one the the kids we look after waving from the beach so went ashore to dicover Mag was there at a friends beach hut, so I stopped for tea and cake - the high light of the day :) Then after an hour decided to head back by which time the wind had gone very light :( I turned by the Wadgate Post and was heading straight for The Dip.Then nearly a mile short the wind just completely disappeared !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it took me ages to make it back after several drips in the North Sea , so sadly a waste of a day off :( rain tomorrow then perhaps a little wind Sat/Sun - fingers crossed !!!! |
